DRP Analysis and Assessment

Disaster recovery planning and prevention (DRP) techniques are paramount in the provision of high-availability systems.  Info Tech is able to provide a skilled assessment of client DRP systems and procedures.

As part of our service we will identify all potential areas of ‘system failure’ and through consultation with client staff and management, attempt to assess the risks associated with system downtime.   We will also perform a health check on your current system and data backup device(s). Info Tech’s approach to DRP analysis is to provide our customers with appropriate guidance on the implementation of a simple, reliable and flexible disaster recovery solution to mitigate system downtime.  From our experience disaster recovery and prevention (DRP) solutions are often ignored, or at best poorly executed, with the resulting data losses and exposure never fully determined until a system downtime event occurs.

While an organisation can quite justifiably feel that within their proposed infrastructure, there are very few single points of failure (SPF’s), no matter how small, there will always be a level of risk.  The costs associated with covering ‘the last 10 yards’ can be prohibitive when compared to the marginal increase in estimated system uptime.

An organisation must accept and acknowledge that disasters can (and do) occur, as well as, undertake contingency planning for the unlikely event that one of the few SPF’s does fail.
